Tasting Note
The 2013 Vintage Port is an old vines (40-60 years) field blend that comes in at 112 grams per liter of residual sugar. This opened feeling rather thin. By the next day, it had fleshed out and it had become increasingly impressive. It has inky black color, classic flavors and good aromatics, too. Its best feature may be its fine structure, though. Tight on the finish, it is not, of course, ready to drink, but it isn't quite as far off as it might seem at times. Still, come back at the end of the decade (at the least) and you will be far better served. It should age well thereafter, too. Give it a chance to acquire some complexity. This was bottled in early August 2015, but it already seems like a nice offering. Drink Date: 2020-2048. Score - 92. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com,
